It wasn’t long ago that the world was buzzing about the pure insanity of the Burj Kalifa and its position as the world’s tallest tower. But like the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. And even for the mighty Burj, there are no exceptions. There is a new power that has come to rule the land, and it goes by the name of “Kingdom Tower”. This ungodly mass is set to push past the Burj’s mere 828m to a stratospheric 1,000m+.
The Kingdom tower has just begun construction in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. And it is being designed and constructed by the same wizards that were behind The Shard in London – Europe’s tallest tower.
I could talk all day about the technical aspects of this skyscraper, but the pictures seem to do a much better job at that. So take a look and admire the sky piercing design while you think; could Vancouver ever have one of these? Oh and the massive helicopter pad jutting out at the 157th floor? That’s actually a private sky terrace, roughly 30 meters (98 feet) in diameter – the ultimate outdoor amenity space intended for use by the penthouse floor.
